VISION

To develop computational skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills

MISSION

To make the students obtain abilities to critically assess numerical and graphical information, learn to formulate strategies for solving problems and acknowledge the importance of being intellectually curious throughout their adult lives.

 

Brief History of the Department

Department of Mathematics is as old as that of the college. It was started in 1958 with strength of 10 students and one Lecturer Mrs.Leelamma. she was the first lecturer to work in this department. After her retirement Smt.S.Laxmi was appointed and she was transferred to Anantapur in 1976, then in her place Smt. K.Sarojamma was posted as Lecturer. With the introduction of intermediate 1977 one more post was sanctioned to the Department and Smt. Janaki Raja was appointed as lecturer for degree courses and Smt. K. Sarojamma for intermediate course. Mrs. Janaki Raja did her Ph.D. in 1982 under F.I.P. Both lecturers are retired from service in 1995. With the bifurcation of college in 1996 one post was surrendered and Sri. S. V. Subbaiah was posted to the Department of mathematics. He was transferred to Chittoor as a principal in February 2004.In September 2004 Smt. T. Madhavi appointed as a contract lecturer in the department. Later Sri. M. Kondaiah was transferred from G.D.C. Tadipatri to K.V.R.G.D.C(W) in July 2005. In September 2006 Smt. D. Padmavathi promoted as lecturer and joined in the department in the second sanctioned post. Sri.M.Kondaiah was retired from service and Smt. D. Padmavathi was retired in 2013. Sri.N.Srinivasa Reddy is appointed as contract lecturer on 8 th July 2013. On 2 nd September 2015 Dr. M. Bharathi and      Dr. K. Rajani Devi was joined in the college on transfer from G.D.C(Men), Kurnool and SJGC(A),Kurnool respectively. Third  post was sanctioned for the academic year 2018-19 and Dr. S.V.Rajasekhar Reddy, contract faculty was posted in the month of August-2018. In January- 2020 Dr.M.Bharathi got promotion as Principal and posted at SCNR GDC,Proddatur,Kadapa Dist. In September 2021 Smt. T.Sunitha and Smt.Pavani ABL was joined in the college on transfer from GDC Nandikotkur ,  GDC Guntakal respectively.

Certificate course:


  • A Certificate course on ”Linear Programming Problem” was introduced in the academic year 2019-20 . The duration of the course is 45 days. The numbers of students enrolled are 79.
  • A Certificate course on “Introduction to LATEX ”  introduced from the academic year 2021-22. . The duration of the course is 45 days.

The Department has experienced faculty to handle both theoretical and problematic papers with expertise in research areas like fluid dynamics and Mathematical analysis.

  • Two members qualified NET and one member qualified SET
  •  The Faculty encourages use of MATLAB  and Mathematics software

Best practices of the department:

  1. Celebration of Ramanujanu’s birth Anniversary (National Mathematics day) every year on 22nd December.
  2. Conducting Elocution or Essay writing competitions and giving away the prizes to the students who stand in 1st, 2nd and 3rd places on the occasion of  Mathematics day.
  3. Department is giving Three Proficiency Prizes to the students of outgoing batch on 22nd December every year.
  4. Paying visits to Orphanages.
  5. Encouraging the students to join in online certificate courses (MOOCS)
  6. Every year arranging plantation programme in the month of July along with students.
  7. Arranging Awareness Programmes for Career Guidance for the benefit of the students.
  8. Arranging Invited Lectures with subject experts for the benefit of the students to get exposure in the subject.
  9. Conducting Rallis to create awareness on plantation, aids, literacy among the public

          and students.
